House at 309 Summit, Dixon, IL. The line going across the picture is Grandmas clothes line. I can see here there in the yard, pulling her clothes through the wringer, the excess water dripping into the tub, shaking them out and hanging them on the line to dry. I have many fond memories of this house. The smells...Thanksgiving dinner sitting on the table in the dining room...chicken and dumplings...the old basement with the walls lined with shelves full of canned goods...hide and go seek in the long clothes closet upstairs....our clubhouse in the chicken coup, the benches made of crates and gunny sacks....my first bike...a blue schwinn.... |
